{"id":615,"date":"2012-05-14T15:06:44","date_gmt":"2012-05-14T22:06:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chineseeinstein.wordpress.com\/?p=615"},"modified":"2012-05-14T15:06:44","modified_gmt":"2012-05-14T22:06:44","slug":"progressive-christianity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jason-fu.com\/blog\/progressive-christianity\/","title":{"rendered":"progressive christianity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><sup>36<\/sup> \u201cTeacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><sup>37<\/sup> Jesus replied: \u201c\u2018Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.\u2019 <sup>38<\/sup> This is the first and greatest commandment. <sup>39<\/sup> And the second is like it: \u2018Love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019 <sup>40<\/sup> All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Notice how He doesn&#8217;t mention slavery or divorce or homosexuality or murder or abortion.<\/p>\n<p><em>Love your neighbor as yourself.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Doesn&#8217;t that mean something? To me, that means you must love your neighbor as yourself. You do whatever you can to let other people become the happiest they can be.<\/p>\n<p>There was a set of bills going around about same-sex marriage. There was one that stated that same-sex marriage would simply be illegal. The other said that it would be legal, but churches had the right to refuse the marriage \u00a0if they so chose. There were about 20 signatures on the former and about two on the latter.<\/p>\n<p>If Jesus said in the New Testament that the two <strong>greatest<\/strong> commandments are to love the Lord and to love your neighbor, don&#8217;t you think that it&#8217;s a little more important than what&#8217;s stated in the Old Testament?<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s how I feel about that.
