37 Jesus replied: \u201c\u2018Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.\u2019 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: \u2018Love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, if you haven’t read what my previous post was on (which you should, because again, it’s short and it’s not very difficult to see what I’m saying), you’ll notice that I chose to go with legalizing same-sex marriage. But that was in May, and it is now the end of August. I’ve done a lot of reflecting and had one simple conversation about this topic since then; and this is essentially what I’ve concluded.<\/p>\n
We have two ways of loving our neighbors: by letting them be happiest by doing what they want, or by restricting them from sinning and thus going to Hell. While the choice of which is best may be obvious, I can tell you it really isn’t. If your neighbor is striving to marry his partner of the same gender, there’s a pretty high chance that he isn’t Christian and will be going to be doomed for eternity anyway, considering that his sexuality is enough for him not to want to believe what’s in the Bible. But there’s always a chance for him to come back to heterosexuality (I’m only saying this because I’ve seen it happen) and live in Heaven with us forever. That chance is also slim.<\/p>\n
But which are you going to decide? Are you going to damn your brothers and sisters by allowing them to sin, or are you going to do your best to bring them away from what seems to them to be so so right?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
