Same-Sex Marriage:

The way I see it.

This post is kind of a response to this one (don’t worry, it’s short). This post uses the same verse as that one does, but I’ll put it here just because.

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Now, if you haven’t read what my previous post was on (which you should, because again, it’s short and it’s not very difficult to see what I’m saying), you’ll notice that I chose to go with legalizing same-sex marriage. But that was in May, and it is now the end of August. I’ve done a lot of reflecting and had one simple conversation about this topic since then; and this is essentially what I’ve concluded.

We have two ways of loving our neighbors: by letting them be happiest by doing what they want, or by restricting them from sinning and thus going to Hell. While the choice of which is best may be obvious, I can tell you it really isn’t. If your neighbor is striving to marry his partner of the same gender, there’s a pretty high chance that he isn’t Christian and will be going to be doomed for eternity anyway, considering that his sexuality is enough for him not to want to believe what’s in the Bible. But there’s always a chance for him to come back to heterosexuality (I’m only saying this because I’ve seen it happen) and live in Heaven with us forever. That chance is also slim.

But which are you going to decide? Are you going to damn your brothers and sisters by allowing them to sin, or are you going to do your best to bring them away from what seems to them to be so so right?

There’s something that’s bothered me for a really long time but I haven’t had the guts to say it. Nor do I know exactly how to go about doing so. So here goes:

Clothing.

Yup, that’s right. Clothing bothers me. And not just any clothing. Women’s clothing. Think back into history and about what women wore. It looked something like this:

Of course, this is a famous portrait and I’m sure everyone’s seen it in their history textbooks.

I digress. Fast forward to today and you’ll see that our clothing is very much different. Now you must remember that society has grown much since the Elizabethan times. In the early 1900s, women declared de facto independence from the cruel reign of men by gaining suffrage. While the passing of the amendment helped America as a whole become more accepting of people different from us (“us” being wealthy, white males), it was more of a symbolic thing for the women: from then until now, women as a gender have evolved faster than you could say “blueberry pie.”

Of course if you have eyes, you’d be able to see what women are wearing nowadays. Low-cut shirts. Short shorts. Men are just left saying, “wow.”

Well, I say “wow,” too. Just in a different way. What makes you think I want to see what you’re showing off to the world? Because I’ll be completely honest. I don’t want to see it. Now before you label me as a flaming homosexual, allow me to explain myself.

I love women as much as the next guy does. It’s just that the clothing I see nowadays doesn’t reflect the way I think society should be moving. Reflect for a second on barbarism. I wasn’t there and maybe you weren’t either, but they wore no clothing. As civilization came around, women were putting on more clothing. Now, they’re taking them off again.

What the deuce.

Darwin’s theory of evolution states that “only the strong survive.” Take that and apply it to this post however you want.

There’s another thing, though. Though scantily-clad women may be in the fantasy of every straight male, it makes my life a whole lot harder as a Christian who has sworn purity to my wife to-be.

Not all men are scum, but I believe that the supposed increase of this type of men can partially blamed on this series of fashion choices by women.

Prospects for the future: “casual” clothing is a sports bra with panties. Civilization continues reproducing at an alarming rate. Men get dumber.

Even if we are getting dumber, I can’t help but hope that this is just a trend. And that we’ll eventually revert to what we had 400-or-so years ago, with women being modest out of respect for other human beings.

Don’t hate me.

P.S. The same type of evolution I talked about in this post can be seen in dance.

As I grow older, I’m becoming more and more aware of how good a role model Yongbai is. He’s ballin’ but he doesn’t buy into all that materialism stuff. He may have a nice car, but he as a small apartment and an old phone–he doesn’t buy what he doesn’t need to use.

I want to be like that. Actually, I kind of am. I really really want to switch back to a dumb phone so I can just make phone calls and text people. Apps, Facebook, games or whatever are all unnecessary.

There have recently been trends of Kakaotalk or whatever, and people have tried to pull me in, but I said, “NO.” I do not fall into peer pressure, even if it is for seemingly-harmless things. It’s all part of that materialism.

There’s also something about people who have their face glued to their devices that really bothers me. There’s so much world to see outside. Why not look there instead of that tiny shiny thing in your lap? I won’t lie–I’m extremely glad I don’t have this problem. I like to be able to appreciate what’s around me, without having to be connected to a system all the time. But maybe that’s just me.

Skittles.

I saw on Facebook that someone I really respect got her ears pierced.

Usually I don’t think about things like that, but there’s something about her getting her ears pierced that bothered me.

I couldn’t figure out what it was, either. I just thought that maybe I think that pierced ears make a girl look younger. But hmm, no. That’s not right.

Then I realized that I think it makes a girl look undignified. Bam. I thought about girls I knew at church with multiple ear piercings. They actually look like they lost control and decided to poke holes all over their ears.

They always tell each other, “omg its so cute!~~~~” and I never understood.

And I don’t think I ever will.

It’s been quite a while since I posted here. I regret not stopping by more often, really. There’s just been no reason to think anymore. Summer is fun but it’s not stimulating in any way. It’s the end of July and I’m bored of having fun. I want to start reading again. I even thought about picking up Walden. What’s wrong with me. I would never want to actually pick that up again.

Anyway, I’m off to Mexico again in about a week! Oh, wow. Time really creeps up on you. I’m looking forward to the trip and also not because once it’s over, it means the end of summer is arriving soon. bleck. School is all right but it’s too tiring. I like to learn but I don’t like to learn about stuff that’s taught in school. Too in-depth. I like to learn a little about everything, not everything about a little.

I’m taking Psychology for some reason next quarter. It’s interesting, but… again, I’d like to learn a little about it instead of everything there is to know. Maybe I’ll change my schedule.

I really want some waffles.
